Mixed Vegetable Dal  Ingredients for preparing Mixed Vegetable Dal 

  • Moong Dal – ½ cup
  • Masoor Dal / split red lentil – ½ cup
  • Onion (chopped) – Half of one
  • Ginger paste – 1 tsp
  • Cauliflower (cut into florets) – ¼ cup
  • Green Beans (chopped) –  ¼ cup
  • Radish (chopped) – ¼ cup
  • Carrot (chopped) – ¼ cup
  • Green Peas (parboiled) – ¼ cup
  • Green Chillies (chopped) – 3 nos.
  • Cumin Seeds Powder -  1/2 tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
  •  Salt to taste – ½ tsp
  • Cumin Seeds – ½ tsp
  • Dry Red Chillies – 2 nos
  • Garam Masala Powder – ½ tsp
  • Butter – 1
  • Oil for cooking – 1 tbs

Steps to prepare Mixed Vegetable Dal

  1. In a non-stick skillet, dry roast the moong dal.
  2. Now pressure cook, moong lentil along with masoor dal,water, butter, turmeric and red chilli powder for one whistle.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and dry red chillies and allow them to sputter.
  4. Then add the vegetables one after another and shallow fry. Cover the pan with a lid, to let the vegetables be cooked.
  5. When vegetables are half cooked, pour the dal in. Add green chillies, cumin powder and salt. Mix well. Again cook for a couple of minutes till the vegetables are completely cooked.
  6. Add ginger paste into the dal and sprinkle garam masala powder on top. Stir to combine.
  7. In a pan, saute onions till golden brown and then mix them with the dal.
  8. Serve hot with rice or roti.
