Mixed Dal VadaIngredients for preparing Mixed Dal Vada

  • Channa Dal (Pottu Kadala)  -  75  g
  • Urad Dal (Uzhunnuparippu) -  100  g
  • Toor Dal  -   75  g
  • Dry Red Chillies   -   2  nos.
  • Onion: chopped  -  1 no.
  • Ginger: chopped  -  1 piece (1 inch thick)
  • Curry Leaves  -  a few
  • Asafoetida Powder  -  1  pinch
  • Salt to taste  -  ½  tsp
  •  Oil  -   ½  cup

 Steps for preparing Mixed Dal Vada

  1. Soak all three varieties of dal in water for an hour.
  2. After 1 hour drain the water and coarsely grind the soaked dal with dry red chillies. Mix it with onion, ginger, curry leaves, salt and asafoetida.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Make small balls out of the mixture and flatten it on the palm into thick small round patties (vada).
  4. Deep fry the round patties till both sides turn golden brown. Transfer it to a serving plate with paper towel so that the excess oil will be removed.
  5. In the same manner fry all the round patties and serve hot with tomato ketchup or any chutney.
