Dal Palak Recipe

Ingredients for preparing Dal Palak

  • Toor Dal -  1 cup
  • Palak: chopped - 7 cup
  • Onion sliced  -  1    no.
  • Garlic  -  4  cloves
  • Dry Red Chillies -  3 nos.
  • Turmeric Powder -   ½    tsp
  • Grated Coconut  -   1  cup
  • Small Onion / Shallot  -  6  nos.
  • Green Chillies: sliced -  3 nos.
  • Cumin Seeds  -  ½  tsp
  • Chilli Powder  -  1½  tsp
  • Salt to taste -  ½  tsp
  • Mustard Seeds  -  ½    tsp
  • Curry Leaves  -  2  stalk
  • Oil  -  1½  tbsp

Steps for preparing Dal Palak

  1. Pressure cook the dal with turmeric powder, salt and enough water.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add onion, garlic and red chillies. Stir fry till golden brown.
  3. Add palak and stir for a few minutes till the palak is cooked. Add cooked dal into it and allow it to boil.
  4. Grind coconut, chilli powder, cumin seeds, green chillies and small onion. Add the coconut paste in to the dal and pour enough water. Cook it for a few minutes till it becomes thick.
  5. Finally seasoning the curry with mustard seeds and curry Leaves.
  6. Serve with best combinations.
